TPS25740: Simplest way to accomplish USB C PD and USB 3.1 host

Hello,

What i need is to charge an tablet PC in a vehicle (12/24V) and this PC requires a USB PD charger. This would have been simple if it was not for the data transfer.

Looking for this, but can not find any simple solution. Data needed is USB 3.1 while charging the device.

Hi Bengt,

Very sorry for the delay as I have been out of office this past week. Having data transfer must rule out the TPS25740. Rather, I recommend using either the TPS23741 (like shown in front page of the datasheet with the muxing circuits). Or you can use our newer full featured USB PD controllers like TPS65988 which have mux control.

Hi Darwin,

Thank you but also sorry to hear. I think this is a serious drawback of USB-C. USB OTG lacked of same problems. Charging while in host mode. Can we hope for a smooth solution in the future?

The TPS65988 will probably be be to complex for this project.
