TUSB1002A: Best location to place TUSB1002A...

Part Number: TUSB1002A

Dear Sirs,

My customer want to use TUSB1002A on their system, but they are very confused where they should to place it to get best signal!

Below is their system block.

The chipset is far away from the output connector, and the straight line distance is 14cm, I believe the actual trace is more than 14cm after layout.

The system board and connector board was connected by 5cm coaxial cable.

Please advise me what is the best point to use redriver.

Thanks.

The placement of TUSB1002A would depend on the driving and receiving capability of the Chipset(Host) on the system board, plus the ~14cm trace loss, two coaxial cable connectors loss, coaxial cable loss, and 3-5cm trace loss.

TUSB1002A can recover a signal from a host/device up to a typical 10in FR4 trace and able to drive a 4in FR4 trace assume host/device can provide -3dB de-emphasis and RX can recover 14.5dB loss.

I see you have a Type C Connector in your block diagram, do you plan to support USB Type C Alt Mode?

    Thanks
    David
  • Hi David,
Customer only needs PD function, ALT mode is not necessary.
