HD3SS3220: Pull-up from Vbus_det

Dear e2e Support,

My customer is facing the same issue as this post, using our IC in DRP mode: it works only when the pull-up from Vbus_det is removed.

Is there a mistake  in our datasheet?

Should we use a different pull-up?

Regards,

  • Hi,
The datasheet is correct. Most likely the customer is not properly controlling VBUS. VBUS cannot be always present. Per Type-C spec, VBUS must be disabled while there is no connection. It can only be enabled when the CC pin detects device attachment when port is a source
(DFP), or dual-role (DRP) acting as source (DFP). VBUS power switch enable (active low) should be controlled by the ID pin of the HD3SS3220 for proper operation.
    Regards,
    Brian
