The following is some of the information which can be obtained from or provided to the downstream eDP device using AUX WDATA and RDATA:
1. eDP Downstream DPCD capabilities (number of lanes, datarate, display authenticate method, and so on)
2. EDID information of display like native resolution (obtained by I2C over AUX transactions)
3. Link training and status
4. MCCS control

Please refer to DP and eDP spec for detailed info on these type of data.

About these information, how to know which register or data is DPCD/EDID/Link training/MCCS?

You read the data by accessing different DPCD register address on the sink side. For example, address 0x00001h is the max link rate while address 0x00002h is the max lane count.

For detailed EDID info, please refer to VESA EDID spec.

For detailed DPCD info including register map, please refer to VESA DP1.2 spec.

Thanks.
EDID is 128 bits (including checksum).
We can get all the EDID information after read eight times (0x79-0x88), right?

The maximum read size allowed by SN65DSI86 is 16 bytes, this means reading the EDID must be broken into 16-byte chunks. So you have to read 8 times to complete the EDID read.
