TINA/Spice/PCA9306: HSpice & Spice model for PCA9306

Part Number: PCA9306
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi,

my customer is attempting to run SPICE simulations on their machines & noticed that HSPICE model was not working on their end. Thus i would like to check if there's SPICE category model for PCA9306 instead of HSpice? Thanks.

Also what are the difference between HSpice & Spice?

Regards,

Leo

  • Hey Lee,

"Thus i would like to check if there's SPICE category model for PCA9306 instead of HSpice?"

-To my knowledge we do not. Can you elaborate on the problem you are seeing? It may help me if I know what the customer is trying to simulate and see if the result they are seeing is accurate or not. If something is wrong with the simulation I can try to reach out to our modeling team to see if they can update the model.

"Also what are the difference between HSpice & Spice?"

I have personally never used either of the two. However I believe spice was developed by Berkeley and is open source. The other Variants are proprietary (does not necessarily mean they are better though). They essentially are supposed to do the same thing though.

Some additional reading can be done here:

    Thanks,

  • Hi Bobby,
my customer is now attempting to perform system level simulation which involves parts across different suppliers & they are using LT Spice to perform the simulation. thus having the need for Spice model. Thanks.

  • Hey Leo,

I just contacted our modeling team to see if we could update the HSPICE model or generate an LTSpice model.

I'll let you know how they reply.

    Thanks,
    -Bobby
  • Hi,
Do drop me an email if you have the latest spice model. Thanks.

    Regards,
    Leo
  • Hey Leo,

The modeling team just responded to my email, please see below:
    --------

"The HSPICE is a copy of the actual design database, hence I said it should be more accurate. We cannot update it.

I understand that LTSpice cannot run the HSPICE model. Please note that we cannot develop models for LTSpice legally."
    --------

Unfortunately it does not look like we will be able to provide the customer a model for LTSpice.
