TPS7B63-Q1: ROSC of Device

Part Number: TPS7B63-Q1

Hi team

TPS7B63-Q1 has spec. Excludes tolerance of R(ROSC) = 20 kΩ to 100 kΩ.

What happens if I use 270kΩ?

Thanks,

TM

  • Hi TM,

The recommended resistance range for ROSC is 20 k to 100 k so that the resistance is detected- particularly over temperature. Using too large of a resistor may be detected as an open and using too small of a resistor may be detected as a short on ROSC. In either case, the WDO pin remains low indicating a fault status. If the larger resistor does work for your application, the watchdog period tolerance will be 15% or more. We did not do characterization beyond a 200 k resistor.

A 270 k resistor may work for your application; however, it is extremely important to prototype the application and do your own qualification to determine if this is a suitable solution for your application.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
