TUSB8020B: Schematic review

Part Number: TUSB8020B

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you.

Our application is carrier board.

Upstream will connect to NVIDIA TX1/TX2 (USB3.0/2.0), Two downstream connect to USB3.0 Type A connector,

The circle is highlight which need to confirm

We also need to know GANGED/SMBA2/ HS_UP and FULLPWRMGMTz/ SMBA1/SS_UP pin function.

Could you help explain it?

When will it be needed? If it is not used, could it be floating?

  • Hello Shu-Cheng,

There should be capacitors on the downstream USB 3.0 TX lines, and a pair of capacitors on the other TX-RX pair on the upstream port.

The connection between digital ground and chassis ground is determined by the customer, they can either directly connect them or couple them through capacitors.

SDA/SCL can be left unconnected if not used.

SMBUSz should be left unconnected or with external pullup if I2C and SMBUS are not used

GANGED should be pulled low (separate power switches for each port)

FULLPWRMGMTz should be pulled low (power switches implemented)

PWRCTL_POL setting is determined by the application, are the power switches active high or active low enable?

    Regards,

    JMMN
