TPS65987D: Questions for 0x51, 0x52 Configuration

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982,

Hi, Team,

I have questions for "Display Port Capabilities" (0x51) and "Intel VID Config Register"(0x52), (advanced FW configuration)

1. For 0x51 "Supports DP v1.3 signaling", does the TPS65987DDH behavior change with or without check?

2. For 0x51 "DFP_D/UFP_D Connected", could you explain the detail of configuration? We would like to understand which configuration is best for a NB application.

3. Data Status HPD Events is added compared with TPS65982. In what case would the customer put a check?

Best Regards,
Satoshi Yone

  • Hi Yone-san,

    1. If "Supports DP v1.3 Signaling" is enabled, the TPS65987D will indicate through the DP Alternate Mode negotiation that the system supports DP v1.3 signaling.

    2. DFP_D/UFP_D connected indicates whether the system is an Upstream facing port with regards to display port or downstream facing DP. A Notebook will be a DFP_D since it will always be the Downstream facing Display Port sending video signals to a monitor or dock.

    3. If the customers EC needs to change any of the systems behavior when a Hot Plug Detect signal is received, they would check this bit. If not, they can leave it unchecked.

    Thank you,
