TPS65986: Any status register information stored in FW crash, to help determine what happened?

My customer has recently seen some unexpected TPS65986 RESETs when plugging or un-plugging a charger. Is there anything like a "black box" info that might be stored in the event of a FW Crash, that they could read to help debug what is going on when the device RESETs?

Hi Eric S.,

Unfortunately, we do not save any FW information in our device after we POR. We would simply reload our configuration from the external SPI-Flash.

Has there been any known or reported issues of unexpected RESET occurring on single plug or unplug events? This is what we're trying to debug, and interested if there is any known issue or sensitivity during plug events that can help direct debug efforts. Thank you.

Hi Eric S.,

There has been no known issue of unexpected Resets. I would suggest monitoring the VBUS voltage, VBUS current, and CC lines to see if anything odd occurs. You could also check with a PD analyzer to see what's going on as well.
