SN65HVD62: the pin5(DIR) 's Peripheral circuit connection

Part Number: SN65HVD62

Hello.

I use the SN65HVD62 on the project TMA.

If I don't use the RS485, I want to connect the SN65HVD62 with the MCU directly. is it reliable ?

Because the pin5(DIR)  of SN65HVD62 is out, Can it be floating ?  I can't find the pin5's drawing.  the pin 5 is high active ?

  • Hi Xianrong,

Yes, it is OK to connect HVD62 directly to an MCU's UART port rather than to an RS-485 transceiver. In that case, you could just leave the DIR pin disconnected (floating). This pin is a push-pull output that is high when data is being received via the coaxial connection.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Regards,
    Max
