TPS65983B: receive display port signal (4K video) from thunderbolt3 port of PC

Hi Team,

My customer wants to receive display port signal (4K video) from thunderbolt3 port of PC.
Is TPS65983B (thunderbolt device side) required in this case?

I believe TPS65981 can be used in this case however would like to confirm just in case.

Hi Yaita-san,

You are correct, the TPS65981 could be used here. However, I would suggest looking at the TPS65987D as it is our latest PD3.0 PD controller.

Just to be sure..
I believe TPS65983B is required thunderbolt3 device application which thunderbolt 3 controller is mounted.
Is my understanding correct?

Hi Yaita-san,

If TBT3 is a requirement for their device application, they will need to use the TPS65983B.

If TBT3 is not required for their device, they can use the TPS65987D or TPS65981.

Thank you! It become clear for me.

My customer has designed his schematic with TPS65983B although TBT3 isn't required and wants replace to TPS65982 because these are pin compatible.
I believe TPS65982 can be used too. Is my understanding correct?
