DS100MB203: Can change mode of Pin Control Mode or SMBUS Mode during operation?

Part Number: DS100MB203

Dear Technical Support Team,

Is it possible to change Pin Control Mode or SMBUS Mode during operation?

In my image,

When ENSMB is changed from 0 to 1, pins of EQ and DEM is disable and PMbus is enable.

Register setting of EQ/DEM is changed default.

When ENSMB is changed from 1 to 0,  pin of EQ and DEM is enable and PMbus is disable.

Is it correct operation?

I think that Common pin like DEM_S1/SCL、DEM_S0/SDA are very complicated when changed them during operation.

User should change correct external register(I2C pull up and 4Level)

Best Regards,

ttd

  • Dear Technical Support Team,

Do you have any update so far?

  • Hi,

The results are expected.  It is not typical to dynamically change between Pin mode and SMBus mode.  Many of the pins are shared which makes the transition between the two states while the system is running difficult.  It is much more common to see EEPROM and SMBus used interactively.

You may need to switch in and out different resistors on the DEM/SCL and DEM/SDA pins based on the state of ENSMB signal.

    Regards,
