Hello, team!

My customer is developing the ADAS system by using deserializer DS90UB954-Q1.

The during of learning of datasheet the customer has following questions:

The questions of power supply of 1.1V. There are two typical application schemes in the datasheet :

a. Typical connection diagram coaxial with internal 1.1V LDO (page 143 - figure 43 in datasheet on link above)

b. Typical connection diagram STP with external 1.1V supply (page 144 - figure 44 in datasheet on link above)

My customer asks, for example, can we use external supply for coaxial connection and accordingly external supply for STP connection? 

For other example, can we use internal supply for both type of connection or accordingly use external supply for both it?

Also the customer has a question, is there any connection at all between the type of cable used and the type of power supply? How does the chip recognize the need to use internal power?

Could you please reply for my customer's questions?

    Hi,

    The cable type and power supply type are independent. 

    You could use any of the combinations you have mentioned. 

    The VDD_SEL pin controls the use of internal or external 1.1V supply.

    When VDD_SEL is tied to LOW, the chip will use internal 1.1V supply. If VDD_SEL is tied to HIGH, the chip will use external 1.1V supply.
