TPS65982: Peak current in Transmit Source Capabilities (0x32)

Hi Team,

Application customization tool shows the following.
>Peak Current: Set the percentage that the Source current can peak over the max before an OCP event occurs.

Does it indicate OCP event occurs when loads more than 3A (Maximum Current 3A x 100% = 3A)  when setting above?
I couldn't catch why "Peak Current" should be set in addition to set "Maximum Current"..

Best Regards,
Yaita

  • Hi Yaita-san,

You are correct, when max current is set to 3A and Peak current is set to 100% then the OCP trip point is set to 3A (3A x 100% = 3A). If peak current is set to 200%, then OCP trip point is set to 6A (3A x 200% = 6A). It is recommended to leave the peak current setting at 100%.
