SN65HVD1787: cross reference DS16F95J

Are you using the PDIP package variant? If so then I would agree that SN65HVD1787 would be a good choice. You might also consider SN65LBC176. If you are using the SOIC package then our newer THVD1550 may be a good option as well. Please take a look at these and let us know if you have any concerns.

Yes, it's an old design with PDIP package so we will replace DS16F95J with SN65HVD1787P.
