DP83822I: Do you have y idea for reducing power consumption?

Part Number: DP83822I

 Hi

My customer want to get your advice.

Please tell me about power saving function of LAN-PHY (DP83822I) and its register setting.

Setting to reduce power consumption of PHY when LAN cable is not connected (Link Downing).
The case of connected to a HUB,etc.
If the signal becomes valid, they want LinkUP to be done only with PHY

If you have any idea for  reducing power consumption, please let me know it.

  • Hi Yusuke,

Please see the low power modes described in the DP83822 datasheet.

For the case of link down, lan cable disconnected, I would recommend looking at the active sleep mode. The modes are controlled in register address 0x0011.

When the case of connected to a switch, the switch should support EEE mode. If the switch supports EEE, the PHY can negotiate EEE mode.

Please see EEE in the datasheet as well.

Finally, power consumption is the lowest when the VDDA and VDDIO voltages are set to 1.8V.

    Best Regards,
