TPS65982: TPS65982DC plug insert or removal questions

Dear,

For TPS65982DC, my customer have following problem for the plug insert or removal:

The test setup is inserting the adaptor, power on the notebook system, and after the power on, remove the adaptor, read the 0x15 register, Byte1, bit3 "Plug Insert Or Removal", the status is 0, which shows no USB Plug Status changed, but when plug in the adaptor again and then plug out, the status changed.

The question is why in the first time when plug out the adaptor, the plug insert or removal status don't change.

BTW, in the FW, I have already checked the "Plug Insert or Removal".

Could you please help give some suggestions?

Hi John,

Are you clearing the interrupt after removing the cable? The interrupt would not bee cleared by itself and would need to be manually cleared in order to reset.

Hi Eric,

Could you please help explain more how to clear the interrupt? which register need to be read or write?
The procedure in customer side is whenever there is I2C interrupt, they will read the 0x15 register to check if it is plug insert or removal.

Hi John,

Are they using a TBT controller in their system such as Alpine Ridge or Titan Ridge?
If so, the TBT controller automatically clears the I2C interrupt from the TPS65982. Otherwise they could write to the IntClear1 register to clear the interrupt manually.

Hi Eric,

They do not have TBT controller in this design.
So they need to write 0 to the Intclear1/2 register (Register 0x18/19)to clear the interrupt, and then the IntEvent can get the correct results, am I right?
