TCA5013EVM: TCA5013EVM performing I/O on the smart card interfaces and how to send APDU commands for transaction process

Hello,

I am working on TCA5013EVM for one of my project. Till date, I can make communication between micro controller and TCA5013EVM through I2C, I can read register values and status of user card reader in buffer. In short, all the basic configuration has been done. Now, I am trying to make a communication between user card reader and user card. As for now, I am using Microprocessor based smart card so, I am trying to send APDU command to generate a communication between User card reader and User card. But, unlucky to get the correct response. I have gone through datasheet provided for TCA5013EVM, I cannot find any command or procedure to configure TCA5013EVM into command or data mode through which I can directly communicate with User card reader for further functionality like PIN authentication to transaction. Also, I cannot find complete documentation on IS0 7816-10 standards which will be helpful for me to read magnetic cards.

There are MPOS related documents I have downloaded from TI website, some links given in the MPOS document will redirect to the another google tab and then shows Page Not Found Error.

Can you also help me by telling the price of the MPOS device designed by TI.

sorry, finally found someone know this device. here is his reply.

I quickly refreshed my memory by skimming through the datasheet, and the APDU command is not mentioned in the datasheet because the TCA5013 doesn’t care about the communication between the Apps Processor and the User Card. The TCA5013 is more of a moderator: it activates the card, opens up the communication channel, identifies any faults in the protocol, and deactivates the card.

You might want to tell the customer to look at section 8.4.4.1 User Card Operating Mode Selection in the datasheet.

The customer needs to determine if they should be using:
• Synchronous Type 1 Operating Mode
• Synchronous Type 2 Operating Mode
• Manual Operating Mode
• Asynchronous Operating Mode

I cannot say which User Card type the customer is using, and do not know the method for choosing the ideal Operating Mode. We ran the TCA5013 through the EMV protocol analyzer to pre-certify the device, and the Aegis processor team handled the final certification with our lead EPOS customer
