DS90UB949-Q1: DS90UB949-Q1 VTERM Question

Part Number: DS90UB949-Q1

HI,

I have question about using the DS90UB949-Q1.

1.

I would like to use the AC-coupled processed HDMI output signal as the HDMI input of the 949 IC.

If so, is the 949 VTERM processing available for both DC-coupled (3V3) and AC-coupled (1V8)?

If not, must it be set the same with AC-coupled?

There is confusion because the data sheet specifies that HDMI termination is done internally.

2.

If the 949 is AC-coupled internally, is it possible to remove the AC-coupled processing circuit from the HDMI source?

3.

If VTERM is set to 1.8V, the HDMI input level seems to be set to 1.8V.

If so, is it OK to apply 1.2V AC-coupled processed HDMI signal from HDMI source?

  • Hi,

    #1 & #2: Yes, only single AC coupling cap is needed between the HDMI transmitter and receiver. Once AC coupling is selected, the Vterm should be linked to 1.8V which follows up HDMI compliance test in the standard;

    #3: For AC coupling, the DC or offset voltage is filtered by cap., the UB949's HDMI electrical spec. follows the HDM I.4A design request.

    Best regards,

    Steven
