Is there any option for me to use same RGMII interface of AM335X to interface Ethernet copper port and SFP , using the same PHY chip

Hello Eby,
I'm not aware of a PHY that supports this functionality. This forum is for support of the MAC so our exposure to PHYs is fairly limited.

I'll move this post to the TI forum that supports the TI PHY products; they will be in a better position to comment on this.

Hello Eby,

We have DP83869HM which can support RGMII on the processor side and supports both Copper and Fiber ethernet on the media side. Fiber interface is compatible with SFP style fiber optic transceivers. The product is currently in sampling stage and will soon be released for mass production.

Can you share more information about your project? End application, timeline etc? If you cant share that over a public forum we can move this discussion to private E2E chat.

My question is whether this Copper /Fiber interface is on the TRD pair or the serdes(SGMII) interface .
if it is the SGMII interface i e fiber output , can i get 1000 mbps copper working on the same interface

Hi Eby,

On DP83869HM, the Fiber ethernet PMD pins are shared with SGMII. Copper ethernet pins are separate. So in Copper ethernet mode, you can use SGMII and RGMII. In Fiber ethernet mode, only RGMII can be used.
