TRS3122E: about TRS3122E receiver input logic

Part Number: TRS3122E

hi dear supporting team,

for RS232, normmally the logic high is -3~-15V, logic low is 3~15V, why in TRS3122E the receiver threshold ViT+ &ViT- are all positive voltage? tks a lot!

  • Hi Vera,

This is useful in the case that the RIN input is left open. In that case, the input voltage will be biased to 0 V via the internal 5-kOhm input resistance of the receiver. Having positive input thresholds makes it so that this 0-V input gives a predictable high output value (instead of an indeterminate value).
