TUSB2077A: Maintaining downstream power while upstream data disconnected

Part Number: TUSB2077A

I am considering the TUSB2077A for an application in which I want the downstream devices to remain powered when the upstream device is reset (e.g., D0 and D1 disconnected) - is this a use case that the 2077A could support, perhaps with minimal external circuitry?

  • Hi Matt,

It is possible to configure the hub so that downstream port power is always on. You can just connect the downstream VBUS connections to a 5V rail instead of a power switch controlled by the PWRONz pins. Please note that you will still see the downstream USB devices get re-enumerated if there is a reset on the upstream port.
