DS90UB927Q-Q1: Capability for 1280 x 800 60Hz

Part Number: DS90UB927Q-Q1

Dear, Sir.

My customer is considering to use DS90UB927Q-Q1 for VESA 1280 x 800 60Hz

(max 1680 x 828 60Hz, hencepixel clock = 83.46MHz).

Just focusing the pixel clock, DS90UB927Q-Q1 could be OK because its max is 85MHz.

I would like to confirm DS90UB927Q-Q1 would be suitable for VESA 1280 x 800 60Hz?

because the internal buffer limitation was concerned.

Please give your advice.

Best Regards,

H. Sakai

  • Hi Sakai,
As you point out, from the function viewpoint, UB927 can work at 83.46M which is within the maximum freq. spec qualified by TI.
But from the application viewpoint, the higher freq. the higher jitter request, please check the total link noise distribution in this case to secure the link can be bit error free, some points:
    1. check the PCLK jitter spec. which should be met in d/s
    2. check the cable and connector, which should have good impedance control and S11(<-12dB@<100MHz and <-20dB@1GHz) and S21(<-12dB@1.5GHz).
    3. check the power supply noise in the system, typically pp noise is <25mV (preferred)
    4. since the video data is 1280x800, can we reduce the blank line (from 1680-1280=400) to <100? it would be helpful for the your design and application if PCLK freq. can be reduced.

    regards,
    Steven
