TPS65988: A drop on PP_CABLE and PP_HV

Part Number: TPS65988

Hi,

There's a special reset feature on customer's NB which will cause a drop on PP_HV(as 5V source path input) and PP_CABLE with waveform as below (CH3).  You an see it drop to a voltage around 1~2V and back to 5V.  At this moment, the type-c connector could be connected to any type-c accessory or just unconnected,  The question is, will such voltage drop cause any issue to our chip?  Or it only causes a re-connection at most?

Thanks!

Antony

  • Hi Antony,

I don't see how this would cause any issues with the TPS65988. It could cause a PD Hard Reset. It would definitely cause a disconnect and reconnect event when the voltage returns to the steady state.

If this answers your question, PLEASE select This resolved my issue

    Thank you,
    Eric
