TPS65982: PP_CABLE

Hi Team,

The datasheet shows the following however I couldn't catch meaning "This input is also available to power core circuitry and the VOUT_3V3 output".

Does it indicate PP_CABLE is used to power core circuitry of TPS65982?
(Is it required to apply 5V for PP_CABLE even if UFP only application?)

    Hi Yaita-san,

    Your understanding is correct. The recommendation is to tie PP_Cable to PP_5V0 if PP_Cable is unused.

    The datasheet also shows the following about PP_5V0.


    My customer's application is UFP only so it seems both PP_5V0 and PP_CABLE can be connected to GND because both pins are unused.
    Should he apply 5V to PP_CABLE when PP_5V0 is connected to GND?

    Hi Yaita-san,

    If they are UFP only, there is no need for them to ever provide PP_Cable or PP_5V0. PP_5V0 is used when sourcing 5V on VBUS and PP_Cable is used when sourcing VCONN on the unused CC line.

    It would be okay to GND both in this case.
