SN75DP130: EQ configurations

Part Number: SN75DP130

Hi expert,

I have a couple of questions while reading dp130 datasheet.

  1. The EQ input stage is self-configuring based on Link Training -- Does it mean that we do not have to change the EQ?But Table 3 shows Pin configuration and I2C control to select EQ.
  2. What is the result of Link training? Does the link training decide the voltage swing level and pre-emphasis level? Then according the pre-emphasis, we can set the EQ in Table11-14 through I2C?
  3. can you help me to understand the connection between Link Training and DPCD?

Thank a lot!

Regards,

Yangbo

The SN75DP130 monitors the AUX access to DisplayPort Configuration Data (DPCD) registers during Link Training in DP mode to select the output voltage swing VOD, output pre-emphasis. And depends on the selected VOD and pre-emphasis level, will automatically set the EQ value. The EQ value can be the default value if EQ_I2C_ENABLE is 0. The EQ value can also be programmed value through table 11-14 if EQ_I2C_ENABLE is 1.

You can also choose to disable link training and manually programming the value.

    Thanks

  • Hi David,

if EQ_I2C_ENABLE is 0 and Link training is enable, do i need to configure DPCD registers? For example, the LINK_BW_SET, the pre-emphasis and voltage swing level setting. Or these parameters will be generated automatically.

    Thanks,

They will be set automatically through the read of link training.

    Thanks
