Hi Sir,

Our customer product is PCIE Riser Card,

The TI Datasheet is show the Place AC-coupling capacitors near to the receiver end.

I have some doubts, if motherboard Host side or Device TX had AC-coupling capacitors,

Is need Place AC-coupling capacitors on DS80PCI402 Riser Card?

Hi Hugo,

If you are building a riser card you will not need AC coupling on the DS80PCI402 receiver pins. It is just required on the transmit pins.

The PCIe specification is defined in a way that requires the AC coupling capacitor be placed on the same board as a PCIe transmit pin. This ensures all links will have a single point of AC coupling when various boards and cables are plugged together to form the whole system.
