Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869HM
We are trying to use DP83849IF as media converter (100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX). I've read DP83849IF's datasheet and AN-1509 application node, and i realized that in order to make DP83849IF operate as media converter I need:
1. Configure one port to operate in FX mode via strap
2. Another port should be left unconfigured (TX mode is default one)
3. enable the Extender strap
Maybe my question is a little bit silly but should I connect two MII ports of DP83849IF together to make the IC operate as media converter? Do i need to do something else besides things that i mentioned above, like maybe an access to registers?
