TPS65988 design.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65988

Team:  Can you share which device and in which configuration my customer  can use for the following application.
They are developing magnetic-field probe, for which they need to communicate through USB-C and to be powered through another USB-C. They want to make such hub, which will switch these 2 USB-C channels automatically for user.

So, 2 USB-C connector at input. User connects 5V-USB-C data cable to one of them, and connects 20V USB-C charger cable to another one. They don't know which one is 20V and which is 5V data. At output they  should have  USB data and 20V power separated. Thanks.

  • Hi Naser,

You can use TPS65988, this device supports 2 USB-PD ports and can satisfy the customer's needs. Please see for more details.

Click "This resolves my issue" if this answers your query.

    Thanks,

  • HI Rahul: Thanks. Customer will buy the TPS65988 development board, but he said even from user guide of dev. board it's not clear how to use it.
Could you briefly describe the configuration we should use, or it's better if you describe jumper setting. So, any comments concerning our application will be helpful for me. Thanks for your quick reply.
  • Hi Naser,

You can use the default configuration which comes preprogrammed in the EVM for your evaluation. The default configuration can make 5V and 20V contracts without any change in configuration.

    Thanks,
    Rahul
