PCA9306: PCA9306

Part Number: PCA9306

Dear SIR:

May I have some question regarding "What's different (Ex: application limitation....)between "PCA9306 " and "MOSFET"  ?"

Because I have saw many circuit application use 2pcs "MOSFET"  for the same circuit design.

Therefore,I have question that :

"What's different (Ex: application limitation.,condition ,.....)between "PCA9306 " and "MOSFET"  ?"

<ex: What's condition can use MOSFET for circuit design ,What's condition can not  use MOSFET for circuit design and use "PCA9306 "necessary ?>

Thanks

  • Hello TAlex Wu,

"What's condition can use MOSFET for circuit design ,What's condition can not  use MOSFET for circuit design and use "PCA9306 "necessary ?"

In most cases you could use a FET for level translation but FETs have body diodes which could conduct and prevent level translation so you would need to set it up properly keeping in mind the power sequence.

Using a FET may also increase the propagation delays and potentially lowers the margin of VoL which can be passed from one side to the other if the gate voltage is only tied to the lowest Vcc voltage. This would be a concern if you were doing translation at lower Vcc ranges.

You could use MOSFET in all situations I can think of but you need to know the gotchas and how to design the MOSFET to fit your I2C bus.

    Thanks,
