MAX3222: Capacitor Tolerance Question

Part Number: MAX3222

For the charge pump caps for V+/V- and C+/C-, is a tolerance of +/- 10% OK?  If not, what is our recommended tolerance?

Best, Ishaan

  • Hi Ishaan,

10% tolerance would be fine. These capacitors are used by the charge pump to generate the higher voltage references required for RS-232 communication. This operation is not very sensitive to the exact component values. Having slightly different capacitances would just result in slightly different voltage ripple or switching frequency.
