ONET1141L: Laser Modulation

Part Number: ONET1141L
Hello, greetings from Chile, I'm Sebastian Bozzo, Master's researcher at the University of the Andes (Chile), meeting with a laser communication project funded by the government together with the dean.
Our goal is to transmit information with laser diodes at a speed of 50Mb / s and 200MHz. We are interested in your ONET1141L device, to modulate the Thorlabs LP660-SF60 laser.
I am concerned that this laser requires an operating voltage of 2.4V to 2.8V, and an operating current of 210mA to 250mA, but the ONET1141L can just give 2.0V, and 140mA at the output(i'm not very sure) I plan to power the circuit with the TL431 Texas Instruments voltage regulator. Do you have any suggestions / recommendations on how to implement this device?, Or another chip that better fit to my aplication?
We have enough funds.

  • Hello Sebastian,

Please note ONET1141L main application is 10GbE. ONET1141L has not been characterized at data rates you noted. For lower data rates like what you have noted, please consider using LED drivers. Please check on-line for LED drivers targeting different applications.
