TCAN1042H: Look for USART to CAN solution

Hi,

my customer need a device for USART to CAN device in their WIFI module. Do we have suitable product can meet this function? or do we have solution can realize this function.

I found the TCAN1042, it only the CAN transceiver and not include the CAN protocol，right? do we have CAN controller part? because their WIFI module not includes the CAN protocol.

    You are correct that the TCAN1042 doesn't include the controller portion and is only the transceiver. The TCAN4550 sounds like a good fit for this application, it is a SPI to CAN device that translates SPI communication into CAN protocol messages, and a transceiver integrated into the same package. If you visit the TCAN4550 product page, you can submit a request for a full datasheet, as well as an EVM and samples of the device.

    Thanks for your fast reply.
    I saw the TCAN4550 is used for SPI to CAN, so we don't have the UART to CAN devices?
    I will check with customer if they can use SPI instead of UART. Has the TCAN4550 been RTM, why not the full datasheet online?

    Unfortunately we do not have dedicated UART to CAN devices. The TCAN4550 is available for sample but RTM is planned for 2Q19.

    Can I ask why the customer needs to UART to CAN? What kind of application is this?

    The TCAN4550 has not yet been released to market, but it is currently sampling on TI.com, and its full datasheet can be requested via links provided in the product folder.  See the snapshot below:
