DP83849IF: DP83849IF Media Converter Setting.

Part Number: DP83849IF
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00306

Dear TI Team,

I want to configure as shown below.

Copper connection from PC / Fiber connection from DP83849IF
We want to design with Standalone without using MCU separately.
In this case, I would like to confirm that only AN_EN / AN0 / AN1 / FX_EN_A / B / EXTENDER_EN should be set to H / W.

Thanks.

  • Hi Youngsu,

Yes, if the media converter is intended to be unmanaged, the configuration you are showing are the only straps necessary to implement it.

Your test system on the bench should show that the design can be operated without management.

    Best Regards,
  • Dear Rodrigues,

We have tested two TI DP83849IF EVM KITs with this configuration. But it does not work.
Is it possible to check if there is any problem on the strap setting?
Should the changes be made in other parts besides the above straps?
Or is there a problem with our Ping Test?

    Thanks.
  • Hi Chun,

Did you perform all the changes to the TIDA-00306 that are required for fiber operation? All the components in the schematic need to be changed for fiber operation, including the signal detect resistor.

Once the changes are made, do you have a link indicated when the fiber modules are connected?

The link status should be verified on both the copper and fiber port, on both TIDA boards before you can try to ping.

    Best Regards,
