TPS65986: How are the HPD Configuration bits set on the TPS65986

Table 5 in section 8.3.16 of the TPS65986 Datasheet shows how to set HPD TX and HPD RX for DP Alt Mode. The HPD Configuration bits are used to configure GPIO4 and GPIO5 for HPD TX and HPD RX. How are the HPD Configuration bits set in Table 5?

Hi James,

The HPD bits will be set automatically when entering DisplayPort alternate mode as per the PD protocol. You just need to enable DisplayPort mode in your configuration image and the rest will be done automatically.

Thanks for the response, but I am confused. In the UFP-D direction, do I use GPIO4 or GPIO5 for HPD RX? Table 5 of the TPS65986 datasheet shows that either one can be used based on the value of the HPD Configuration bits.

Hi Jim,

I would suggest using GPIO4 in that case since it could be used for both UFP_D and DFP_D applications.

I finally realized that I was using the standard configuration settings in the TPS6598x customization tool. When using the advanced configuration settings, I was able to select the HPD configuration. Thanks for your help.
