Hello,

We are designing a board based on a AM5749 CPU. We would like to implement data transfert via optical fiber. I found some idea around the DP83849, which is a media converter and seems to fit with our wishes.

Could you please have a look to the attached diagram and tell me if the topology is correct?

Hi Sylvain,

The DP83849 is a 100M only device. It does not support 1000BASE-T communication.

You would also need to have some form of isolation between any two PHYs you are expecting to communicate on the 1000base-t copper connection. Meaning if you tapped the net between the PHY and transformer, you will be DC coupling the 849 to the 88E1510, and this will not work.

At this time I do not have a suggestion for a media converter in the TI profile. Launching soon is the DP83869 device which could convert 1 of your 1000base-t channels into 1000base-x. You would need 2x DP83869s.

Hi Rob,

The DP83869 seems to fit exactly to our demand. Do you know when it is expexted to start the production? Is it possible to have some samples of prototypes to populate our board and to validate the concept?
The prototypes of the boards are expected to be made Q1/2019.
