SN65DSI84-Q1: MIPI to LVDS Bridge

Hi Team,

Customer uses DS90UB947-Q1 and DS90UB948-Q1 as FPD-Link III for infotainment which can support 1080P. But the processor only has a MIPI interface. Is SN65DSI84-Q1 the most suitable solution for MIPI to LVDS bridge?

If so, DS90UB947-Q1 has only 1 pair clock lanes and 4 pair data lanes, but SN65DSI84-Q1 has two pair clock lanes and 4 pair data lanes, how to connect them?

If not, do you have any other recommendation for 1080P solutions?

Hi Hao,

I don't believe you will be able to connect these two directly. However, I've seen a customer use an LCD video processor in between the SN65DSI84-Q1 and the DS90UB947-Q1 to achieve this solution. The signal path was Processor -> SN65DSI84 -> TW8844 -> DS90UB947-Q1 -> DS90UB948-Q1 -> Display Panel.

I'm not sure if TI has a similar part to the TW8844, so you'll need to check with the processor team for that.

Hi Hao,

The SN65DSI85/84/85 are the only devices that I'm aware of. But I recommend that you also post this question in EFL's section since they support the DS90UB947-Q1 and may have a better idea of how to connect these devices.

Hi Hao,

Actually, on second thought this may be achievable with the SN65DSI85-Q1. It has 8 data lanes and 2 clock lanes. I am not sure if it will be able to support 1080p with just 1 clock lane though. Do you know what frequency the customer will use with the DS90UB947-Q1? The LVDS CLK frequency for the SN65DSI85-Q1 only goes up to 154MHz.
