SN65LVDS31: SN65LVDS31 SN65LVDS33

Part Number: SN65LVDS31
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDS33

Using Differential Driver SN65LVDS31 & Differential Receiver SN65LVDS33 separated by some number of feet in cabling.  There was a voltage transient event for a period of time that caused the ground reference for each of these devices to become separated by some number of voltages outside of their specified common-mode range.  Is there a voltage value where the voltage difference could subject these devices to an overstress condition?

  • As long as you stay inside the recommended operating conditions (−4 V to 5 V), the receiver is guaranteed to work correctly.
As long as you stay inside the absolute maximum ratings (−5 V to 6 V), the receiver will not be permanently damaged.
