DS80PCI102: Pre-emphasis Equalizer PCIe

Hello,

I want to use DS80PCI102 for transmitting data over 7m long cable at about 5Gbps and need to make sure it will work fine.

Datasheet says 0.2 UI of Residual Deterministic Jitter at 8 Gbps,10m 30-awg PCIe CBL, I'm wondering what type of cable has been used or could be used for getting to these long distances at these data rate.

Comparing to Xilinx FPGA's which have internal Pre-emphasis and Equalizer for the GTX's how would you describe the TI part performance vs Xilinx?

Hi Reza,

These are cables we have used for PCIe or SATA/SAS data rate.

What is important is table 2 of the DS80PCI802 data sheet. Using your own or your desired cable insertion loss, you can determine which EQ settings would match your cable insertion loss. This means first of all you should have insertion loss of your media.
