Hello,

I am trying to debug my circuit and read the register values in UB960 present in fusion application board (connected with TDA2Px). I connected my USB2ANY Debugger to J15 I2C connector present on the fusion board and launched the ALP program. The original firmware that was present in USB2ANY was 2.8.2.0 but when I launch ALP, it asks me to update it to 2.7 version.

After I launch the ALP and select UB960 Device, it is showing unknown Deserializer FPD-Link III as device name in the device information Tab. When I proceed ahead and run my TDA2Px-Fusion Board, I could see that UB960 is getting detected and initialized in the Tera term but the registers in the ALP are not getting updated. Could you help me why the device is showing as UNKNOWN and why the registers are not getting detected?

Nishant,

I think this is due to a conflict between the DLL version used and the firmware version on your USB2ANY board. Our EVMs with builtin USB2ANY circuit uses version 2.7 firmware and the GUI uses corresponding DLL. Did you try updating the firmware to version 2.7? That should resolve the conflict.

Hello Vishy,

I tried updating to 2.7 but it still didn't resolve my issue. I am still getting UNKNOWN FPD-Link III Deserializer in the device information. Do you have any other suggestions?

Nishant,

In fusion application board, I guess there's an I2C master (TDA2?) capable of accessing 960. When you are also accessing from an external USB2ANY, is there a way to ensure there's no conflict? Could you ensure there's only one master and try?

Hello Vishy,

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure how to ensure that there is no conflict. From the datasheet of Fusion application board, I see Switch S3 Settings that may have to be modified. Do I have to change it to MSP430? I feel this MSP430 is an on-board MSP430 which is different than the one used for debugging using USB2ANY. Also, if I change the switch S3 setting, then I wont be able to control the Fusion board using TDA2Px and I wont be able to do UB960 Configuration settings through TDA2px? Is there a way where you could do the configuration of UB960 through TDA processor and read the registers using USB2ANY simultaneously?

If you are running the code in TDA2Px, can you make sure it's not accessing UB960 when you connect using external USB2ANY for debug?

Hello Vishy,

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately I do not know how to ensure that it's not accessing UB960 when I connect using external USB2ANY for debug. Could you involve the TDA team as well to find out if there is any setting in the fusion board? I know few community members in this forum who were able to read i2c regsiter values when they ran the code with the help of TDA2px. Any suggestion would be hepful!

It could be that the USB2ANY (MSP430) firmware didn't get loaded or got corrupted. As a debug step, you can do the steps explained in the link below and update the USB2ANY firmware version to 2.7.

Then connect with ALP again and try. Let me know if you have questions on the procedure.

Other alternative is to connect with Total Phase Aardvark module and see if you are able to see the registers from ALP.

Did you update firmware and try? Or did you try with total phase Aardvark? Is this issue closed?
