DP83867E: Unable to ping PC with the board

Part Number: DP83867E

Customer is using DP83867 with NXP T1022 based processor with RGMII at MAC interface. They have been able to access this PHY using MDIO. Copper interface between PHY and PC is up but not able to ping PC with the card.

This CPU has been tested with other PHYs using SGMII interfaces.

Schematic is attached -

Have looped customer for sharing more information & for followup questions on same.

  • Few follow-up queries:

    1. Is Phy able to Link-up in 1G speed ?
    2. Do you have MDIO/MDC access and can read the status register ?
    3. Can you try sending packets out and receiving packets in ? It will help in isolating the issue on RGMII TX or RX. You may have to play with RGMII Delays provided thru register configuration or HW straps to adjust the skew between CLK and data.

    Regards,
    Geet
  • Hi Geet

    1. Is Phy able to Link-up in 1G speed ?

Yes , we have checked PHY link up at both 100Mbps and 1G speed

    2. Do you have MDIO/MDC access and can read the status register ?

Yes, MDIO is working and we are able to read status registers

    3. Can you try sending packets out and receiving packets in ? It will help in isolating the issue on RGMII TX or RX. You may have to play with RGMII Delays provided thru register configuration or HW straps to adjust the skew between CLK and data.

    We are working on that.

  • Hi Geet

We tried playing with the RGMII Delays and we have been able to test ping MAC to MAC. You can go ahead and close the case.

    Thanks for the support.
