Greeting, dear colleauges! I have a question for you.

I need to increase cable lenght using IC DS16EV5110A or another IC if you recommend. In this way, i need to use IC in next configuration:

Source ----21m (Cat5e) ---- DS16EV5110A ---- 21m (Cat5e) ---- Sink.

On last my practical experiment i have reached next results:

Source ---29m (Cat5e) ---- DS16EV5110A ---- 11m (Cat5e) ---- Sink.

In one of your application notes I saw serial connection of DS16EV5110A in HOP system. Application note promised that IC in HOP system can increase cable lenght up to 100m (Cat6e).

But when I tried to use HOP system in my experiments I faced a problem with no picture on the sink monitor.

Is it possible to increase cable length using HOP system? Or i need to find another solution? Can you help me to solve this problem?

    Hi Roman,

    In multi-hop system, multiple DS16EV5110A devices are used. These DS16EV5110 are connected together through shorter cable length - for example 29m Cat5e. These devices work as re-drivers or repeaters.

    Another factor that would effect cable reach is insertion loss of the cable. Cat6 has lower loss. Also some cable manufacturer may have lower loss than other vendors - even though cable model is Cat6 for example. So cable quality from one vendor to another vendor could be different.
