TPS65987D: PIN 25 (PP_CABLE) and PIN 5 (VIN_3_3) connection?

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-050014,

Dear,

I read the article TIDA-050014, Power DUO Sink 200W USB-C PD Reference Design for reference to my design (Sink Only Device), where I found one odd, compared to the datasheet.

The pin 25 (PP_Cable) and 5 (VIN_3V3) are floats, while the datasheet says that pin 25 to external 5V and pin 5 to external 3.3V.

Is it correct to float them?

Thanks,

  • Hi Jeong,

In TIDA-050014, the TPS65987D is operating completely in dead battery mode. This means that all the power for the board is coming from VBUS. If this would not be the case for your design, you must have 3.3V tied to VIN_3V3 and 5V tied to PP_CABLE.
