On RS-232 interface chips like the MAX232 and similar, charge pump capacitor values are specified. Are there any problems associated with using larger value capacitors?

Hello Gary,
I am not aware of any problems doing this, however I do not see any advantage.
The driver output current will not be increased.

Thanks for the reply. Someone suggested that larger capacitors might cause the power supplies to take longer to get up to their nominal values, and that if a transmission or reception occurred before that, that it might cause a communication error.
