DS250DF210: about power supply for DS250DF210

Part Number: DS250DF210
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62825,

Hello E2E,

Q1;
I chose TPS62825 for 2.5V output power supply DC/DC.
Is this DC/DC suitable for DS250DF210?

Q2;
Is a filter necessary for the 2.5V power supply? Is it L-C filter?
If necessary, please let me know how to design for filter.

Kind regards,
ACGUY

  • Hi,

    • Q1:
    • I don't foresee a problem with using the TPS62825. Switching regulators can be a little noisier than say LDO regulators but typically well within power supply noise rejection capability of the retimer
    • The DS250DF210 datasheet includes a table in the recommended operating conditions section which lists our recommended max values for the system developer regarding retimer VDD input noise versus noise frequency. I'd recommend to try to meet these supply noise limits on your system if possible
    • Q2:
      • You will need to follow the filter component guidelines per the TPS62825 for the applicable output voltage and current levels here
      • Beyond that, the DS250DF210 simply requires a small network of VDD decoupling capacitors. TI's recommendation is captured in the DS250DF210 datasheet
