LM8335: EVM Firmware for MSP430F5510

Part Number: LM8335

Hi all,

as far as I know, the MSP430F5510 on the LM8335EVM implements a USB to MIPI RFFE interface. I'm highly interested in the MSP430's firmware and would highly appreciated if it could be provided.

Many thanks in advance,
Mathis Schmieder

  • Hey Mathis,

I can't seem to find the firmware on our internal server (I was only able to locate I2C firmware). I tried to contact the previous technical owner of this device as he would be the most likely person to have a copy of the firmware however it seems like he has left the company.

I will try to reach out to my other teammates here to see if they may know where the firmware is stored (if it was stored).

    Thanks,

    -Bobby

  • Hi Bobby,

Firstly, thanks for help on the EVM. It has worked perfectly the past two days. I really appreciated the READ register and the Extended Write functions. They were very useful in my use of this interface to test ten prototype UHF filters controlled via RFFE.

Secondly, I would like to extend the existing software some to focus on the demo of the aforementioned UHF filter.  Basically I would like to create a lookup table of tuning data vs Ch.number once a calibration cycle is completed. So if the software that is driving the EVM is available I would greatly appreciate a copy.

    Thanks very much,

    Stan

  • Hey Stan,

Glad to hear your testing with the EVM went well.

I am actually looking into trying to find the firmware for the EVM now though this doesn't seem to be easy. The firmware was developed over 7 years ago and the location of the firmware is unknown to me at the moment. I've looked through the internal server that our group uses to store data but this device was around before my group even existed and the firmware was not there. I've also reached out to the previous engineer who was responsible for this device but found he no longer works here. I've sent emails out to his colleagues that worked with him while he supported the device to see if they possibly would have it or know of someone who would know the location.  (One is out of office atm and the other has yet to get back to me).

I will also try to nudge my manager to see if he may know where else I can look.

I'll let you know if anything turns up on this.

    Thanks,

    -Bobby

  • Hey Stan,

Looks like my boss actually found the person who supported this device previously (through e2e?) and contacted him (did this a while ago) and there was a share point for this.

    Here's the firmware:

    Firmware V1.15.0.8.zip

I hope this helps. (Any questions on the MSP430 will need to go to the MSP430 forum as I know very little about the micro controller and you will get better support there)

  • Bobby,

I do not think I want to mess with firmware. I would be interested in the C-code that runs on the host computer that drives the EVM and the GUI. If that code has been reduced to firmware I do not have the smarts to utilize it. I invision upgrading the GUI to drive the EVM in a filter demo mode. I sorta expected this might be something done in C or something like Microsoft's visual basic.

  • Hi Bobby,

thanks a lot for the firmware, it helps a lot!

    Best regards,
    Mathis

  • Hey Mathis,

    Glad the Firmware helps.

    Hello Stan,

I have not yet seen us keep the actual raw C files for any of our GUIs. The only files we have were the zipped files I included in the previous post. I checked with my manager to see if there might be any other place we can look for them but it doesn't seem like it. If the files are not in the zipped files I sent then we likely will not be able to locate them.
