TCAN1043-Q1: Question about timing parameter and nFAULT flag

Part Number: TCAN1043-Q1

Hi team,

My customer asked following questions, could you check these?

Q.1) Question about tgo_to_sleep

Does tgo_to_sleep include transient time from Normal mode to Go-To-Sleep mode?

If not, any timing spec for transient time from Normal mode to Go-To-Sleep mode?

Q.2) Question about CANDOM Indicator

In Table 1 of datasheet, the column for CANDOM INDICATORS shows "nFAULT = L upon entering Silent mode from Normal mode". But in 10.3.7.3 CAN Bus Dominant Fault  it is described as "This fault is only indicated in Normal mode and Silent mode.".

Can I think description in Table 1 is correct, nFAULT asserted as Low when the device enters into Normal mode?

Thanks and Best regards,

Nobuo Fujihara

  • Fujihara-san,

Q.1) The tgo_to_sleep parameter does indeed include the transient time from Normal mode to Go-To-Sleep mode.

Q.2) While the CAN Bus Dominant fault can be triggered in Normal and Silent mode, it will only be indicated on the nFAULT pin in Silent mode from Normal mode. nFAULT will not indicate a CAN Bus Dominant fault in Normal mode.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Regards,

  • Hi Eric-san,

    Let me confirm one more.
If System wants to detect CANDOM error while device is in Normal mode, how will it be?
Should MCU detect by counting excessive Low bit on RXD received data?

    Best regards,
  • Fujihara-san,

That is correct, the RXD will be held low for longer than tBUS_DOM, otherwise if you go to Silent mode the nFAULT pin will go low indicating the CANBUSDOM fault.

    Regards,
