DS90LV001: PCIE Clock Buffer

Part Number: DS90LV001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK00334

Dear Team,

I would like to know if DS90LV001 could be PCIE clock buffer or not. Or do you have another single channel solution?

And I also want to know does it require to put AC coupling cap at output of DS90LV001 as below figure?

Thank you.

Jim

  • Hi Jim,

PCIe clocks have a specific set of electrical requirements.  LVDS buffers do not align well with the DC levels expected by PCIe clock input pins so I can't recommend it as a PCIe buffer solution.  For clock buffering applications in PCIe I would look for HCSL style outputs.  The TI clock buffers with HCSL outputs are all either 4 output or 8 output devices.  The LMK00334 is a good example.

    Regards,
