TCA9535: replace TI PCA9535

Part Number: TCA9535
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCA9535

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you.

We saw TCA9535 datasheet show need use resistor to PU/PD unused pin, but PCA9535 datasheet didn't.

So, have any risk or side effect if we use TCA9535 to replace PCA9535?

Thanks!!

  • Hi Shu-Cheng,

We are double checking into this and will get back to you today - sorry it is taking some time.

  • Hey Shu,

Though PCA9535 does not directly say to reference unused pins, it is still best to reference unused pins to either Vcc or GND.

Using TCA9535, if you do not want to use pull up/pull down resistors on unused ports, you can also set the unused ports to outputs (either high or low, does not matter) that way the input stage of the unused ports are referenced. This is particularly important if you are using the INT pin of this device to ensure you do not get random interrupts when a pin floats up and down.

    Thanks,
