TLK10031: How to initialize TLK10031

Part Number: TLK10031
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK10022, TLK10081

Hello,

In my application, the XAUI interface of PPC is connected with the low-speed side of TLK10031, SFP+ is connected with the high-speed side, and the 10,000-mega network card is connected with the optical fiber cable. The link lamp of the network card is not on.Using  optical fibers connect two same TLK10031 boards, the AN_STATUS registers are accessed through MDIO interface. Bit 2 (LINK_STATUS) is unstable, and 0 and 1 are always changing.

What should I pay attention to? How about the correct configuration?

Please reply as soon as possible.

  • Hello,

When using TLK10031 with a optical link the Auto Negotiation and Link Training must be disabled and the HS_SERDES_CONTROL and LS_SERDES_CONTROL should be tuned manually. I would also check the CHANNEL_STATUS_1 bit fields to make sure the HS and SL PLL's are locked.

  • hello,
The link lamp of the network card is still not on.I have a new problem. Can the low speed port of TLK10031 connect to 4x sgmii port?
  • Could you help me understand what your current initialization sequence looks like? I will look into your question more closely and get back to you.
  • hello,

It is possible to connect SGMII ports to TLK10031 LS side depending on device configuration .

  • Hi,
The current application scenario is that the 4xSGMII interface of PowerPC is connected to the low-speed port of the TLK10031. Our goal is to connect the SFP+ through the high-speed port of the TLK10031 and connect the 10G optical port to the outside. I don't know if I can achieve it, or what needs to be configured for TLK10031, please let me know. I appreciate it.

  • Hi,

Unfortunately, with further investigation this application TLK10031 will not work. When using SGMII there is no 8b/10b encoding of the data and the device will not be able to aggregate and serialize the data correctly. If you are able to use 8b/10b encoding then using TLK10022 or TLK10081 may be possible but furhter investigation will be needed.
